History
Singapore Fruits and Vegetables Importers and Exporters Association (SFVIEA) was first established in1984 by a group of fruits and vegetables importers in Singapore. At that time, the Association then, had only seventeen members and the office eas located in one of Singapore early wholesale markets at Carpenter Street. With the information of the Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre (located off West Coast Highway) in 1983, many fruits and vegetables importers and exporters shifted their operations to the new centre for all the wholesale activities for fuits, vegetables, preserved and dried foodstuff. Concurrently, in the same year, SFVIEA relocated its base to new centre in Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre.

SFVIEA's main mission is to promote and expand the development of fruits and vegetables trade in Singapore. As a contact point to promote member¡¯s interest, the association helps to foster closer links amonst members and facilitate, the association helps to foster closer links amongst members and facilitate valuable networks with the various government ministries and trade organizations.

Since then, SFVIEA had organised many activities for their members. To help members keep track of current trends and developments, the Association led two successful trade mission trips to Australia and Cameron Highlands is also keen to help members develop strong links with overseas exporters and importers. Each year, the association welcomes many overseas trade visitors and mission delegations. These trade visits and meeting sessions provide members and visitors with vast opportunities to exchange information and most important of all, promote bilateral trade.

In 1996, to further enhance the activities organised for the members in the industry, SFVIEA appointed Enterprise Promotion Centres Pte Ltd (EPC), a private extension of Economic Development Board (EDB), as the full-time secretariat to provide a full spectrum of secretariat services for the association.

SFVIEA has since grown and reached a member size of over 80 members. The association intends to expand further and to actively explore new overseas trade opportunities for its members as well as looking at ways to improve and upgrade the industry.
